swanbourne residence

The challenge with this project was to convert a 1970s budget project home with tight spaces and low ceilings into a home that felt an open, spacious and more architectural.

The front of the building was strengthened with planes of solid grey dado render walls, adding presence and depth. These cold hard walls were contrasted with warm timber windows and internal blinds.

Internally, space where extended by removing walls and vaulting ceilings. A new gallery kitchen was installed and the back of the house was opened up to the rear garden with a full width bi-fold door system.
