They also have a very low carbon footprint as the amount of energy consumed in constructing earth walls is low. Importantly earth walls breathe and have the ability to absorb and release moisture from the indoor air thus stabilizing humidity inside rooms and providing a healthy living environment. This rammed limestone earth house is located in southern coastal Australia. The building is a simplified form of country cottage vernacular. The brief was to create a long-term family home that was characteristic of its setting and sympathetic to nature.
